Quercus at Queens University have received funding through the Challenge Fund to get a snapshot of the distribution of two of our most iconic endangered species – the red squirrel and the pine marten across all of Northern Ireland. A series of information sessions are being organised across the country to inform and equip volunteers in a citizen science volunteer effort to undertake the work.
The FRSG are proud to have helped pilot the trial in the early months of 2014 for a previous Challenge Fund project. Areas of Fermanagh are yet to be covered as well as Co. Tyrone and beyond so come along if you think you are interested in this brief survey effort (Janury – March 2015).
Dr. David Tosh from Quercus will run through the why’s and how’s of this survey project. A number of volunteers took part last year – it was very engaging, practical and educational so lots of reasons to take part! If you have questions about the project, you can contact Dr. Tosh at [email protected]
Baronscourt Estate have kindly offered to host the session. You can find directions to the Estate from their website at http://barons-court.com/
